Job Description

Role

In order to protect our users against increasingly complex scams, Seraph Secure must stay at the forefront of anti-scam research. We do this by making use of human intelligence to inform, evolve and deploy our automated and AI-powered systems.

A researcher at Seraph Secure is a generalist with varied responsibilities, however there is space to specialize in a particular area of interest.

You'll need to be self-employed and prepared to work under temporary contract.

You'll collaborate with our distributed team, with flexible working hours and the ability to work from anywhere you please.

Responsibilities

In general, researchers are tasked with the following activities:

  • Finding new arenas where scammers are operating, for example on social media, dating sites, and local marketplaces.
  • Working with our development team to integrate new data sources into our database
  • Interacting with scammers to learn their tactics
  • Building and maintaining a scam knowledge base
  • Sharing insights on scammer interactions to help improve the performance of our automated systems
  • Looking for connections between scammers and building a case or narrative around them
  • Contributing ideas for novel ways to defeat scammers
  • Validating and developing intelligence gathered through community submissions

Qualifications

No particular technical knowledge is required, but an analytical mindset and the ability to work intuitively and proactively without close supervision is essential. As the work may vary day-to-day, the ideal fit would be someone who enjoys variety and effectively manages their time across different tasks.

Because the majority of the threats we research have an online component, our researchers benefit from being interested in developments in technology and the online world.
As we are a fully remote team, you'll need excellent written and spoken English skills. We're also looking for someone with a flexible, collaborative attitude to work, ideally with experience working independently as part of a small, distributed team.

The role is an umbrella for a number of diverse disciplines, and we may prefer candidates with prior experience in:

  • OSINT
  • Data extraction
  • Data visualization and statistics
  • Case management
  • Voice acting
  • Legend creation
  • Novel AI tooling
